General Information:
The VIAG VOP G-assistant course (Safety Instruction Natural Gas Sufficiently Informed Person Gas-assistant) is designed for employees responsible for assisting with tasks related to gas installations and performing limited gas technical (BGW) and non-gas technical (NGW) tasks. As a VOP Gas-assistant, you play a critical role in ensuring safety during gas-related activities. You must be knowledgeable about the safety measures required in hazardous situations involving gas networks and know how to act appropriately to minimize risks.

In this course, you will learn how to safely handle gas installations, supervise employees, and perform specific tasks such as closing main valves in gas connections and carrying out inspections and oversight. These specific tasks are described in the VWI’s (Safety Technical Work Instructions).

Course Content:
The VIAG VOP G-ASSISTANT course covers the following topics:

• Basic Knowledge of VIAG: Introduction to safety instructions and procedures for working with gas installations.
• Instructions and Operating Procedures: Correctly following instructions and operating gas installations according to current guidelines.
• Work-Related Risks: Identifying hazards and managing risks during gas installation tasks.
• Safety Equipment and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment): Use of safety gear and PPE.
• Exam Preparation: Theory is covered in one training day from 08:00 to 16:00. You will have access to an online practice module and textbook for further study.

Course Objective:
The VIAG VOP G-ASSISTANT course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to work safely with gas installations and systems in accordance with safety regulations. Upon passing the exam, you will be certified as a Sufficiently Informed Person Gas-assistant, enabling you to assist safely and efficiently with gas-related tasks.

This course is intended for employees involved in tasks related to gas installations, such as technicians, technical staff, and assistants who support gas-related work. It applies to companies in the utility sector, contractors, and any other organizations working with gas infrastructure.

Prerequisites:

• VCA certification is required.
• You must meet the entry requirements of STIPEL (www.beiviag.nl) to participate in the VIAG exam.
• If this is for re-certification, please provide your current BEI/VIAG certificate.
